The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has launched a national campaign to exalt a healthier lifestyle for young family according to a July 17 2002 of recent origins release from HHS. The campaign will use television and radio commercials as well as the Internet to spread its message encouraging children between the ages of nine and 13 to participate in positive activities and make regular physical activity a part of their lives. The effort is designed to reach children of various socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.

The primary goal of the "VERB: It's What You Do" campaign is to mould the number of children and adolescents who are overweight according to promoting active ways to have frolic It also aims to educate parents, coaches, and teachers forward the importance of physical and prosocial activities (eg indoctrinate clubs, community groups, religious organizations) to children's overall health.

commonly 25% of children in the United States exhaust at least four hours by day watching television, and no other than 27% of high school close examiners engage in moderate physical activity for at least 30 minutes for day, five or more days by week. * Seventy-five percent of overweight children will remain overweight as adults. Obesity and exces weight are linked to increased risk of cancer, heart disease, reverse and diabetes in adults.

Children who participate in positive activities have better self-sufficiency confidence, discipline, school achievements, social connectednes and family relationships than their inactive matchs according to the release.
