As part of a continuing effort to cause to grow new programs and services and improve responsiveness to members, three dynamic individuals have joined AORN's staff. According to Tom Cooper CAE, AORN Executive Director, "The mission of AORN and the dedication of AORN members to their association and their profession help us to recruit topnotch talent to the staff. I am real excited about our new employee and the member service opportunities they spread up for us."

Program progress to maturity Ann E. J. Kobs, RN M joined the staff generation 30, 2002, in the recent position of senior director for program exhibition In this position, Kobs will be responsible for leading and assisting with the unfolding of new programs and services for members in several areas, including

* patient safety,



* preparation for Joint Commission forward Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) surveys

* failure gradation and effects analysis,

* workplace safety, and

* disaster preparedness.

Kob has an extensive background in perioperarive nursing, nursing management, and nursing education. She was intrust with an agencyed at JCAHO for nine years in various positions, including assisting with implementation of JCAHO's sentinel termination policy. Kobs will work with AORN's perioperative succor specialists in providing a high plain of professional support

to perioperative nourishs and managers, as well as enhancing AORN's ability to correspond to clinical questions from members.

AORN Management Solutions director. Kim Boerner RN joins the AORN staff as director of AORN Management Solutions, AORN's perioperative interim management and consultation services program (formerly known as Opportunity). Boerner assumed her position in August 2002 coming to the Association with 15 years of experience as an executive pamper recruiter. According to Boerner, "AORN Management Solutions has been reengineered to better succor its customers.... We will place an experienced perioperative manager in a willing manner to help our clients with a seamless, effective transition."

Cooper adds, "We are fortunate to have a self-same capable professional nursing staff, and I have a of great depth and abiding respect for the work they do upon behalf of our members and the perioperative nursing profession. Having Ann and Kim here will enhance our professional staff and enable us to bring out important new programs to work for AORN members."

AORN Foundation director. A third addition to the AORN staff is Leslie L Durgin, who assumed the position of director of the AORN Foundation in October 2002 She has a diverse background, including work in as well-as; not only-but also; not only-but; not alone-but for-profit and non-profit entities. Durgin serv as the mayor of Boulder Colo a city of approximately 100000 for four period of times totaling eight years. She also is an accomplished author, is active in numerous civic organizations, and has received several awards. As the director, Durgin will help the Foundation put in motion forward in a new direction newly outlined by the Foundation's Board of Trustees, seeking donations from nontraditional donors, (ie, nonmedical companies) as the Foundation turn the thoughtss to broaden its donor base. Says Cooper "Leslie has a unique background and skill settle She is excited about the opportunities we envision for the AORN Foundation, and is looking forward to telling the AORN story to potential donors."
