This article lists the candidates for AORN national offices. The annual election will be held during the 2003 Congres onward Thursday, March 27, from 7 to 10:30 AM in stead E253d of McCormick Place. be the effects will be announced the same day at the next to the first session of the House of Delegates from 1:30 to 3 PM inferences also will be available at AORN Headquarters and upon AORN Online. A reception for all candidates will be held in space 354b of McCormick Place forward Thursday, March 27, at 3:15 PM

All AORN members may use this list of candidates to indicate their candidate choices to their delegates, but solitary authorized delegates may vote. Incorrect marking of the official ballot will invalidate that section of the ballot. Please note: Debora s Tanner has withdrawn her candidacy to be ascribed to commitments in her professional life.

Additional nominations may be made from the floor at the first session of the House of Delegates, which begins at 1 PM forward Monday, March 24. Before nomination, the eligibility of additional nominees must be verified, and consent-to-serve forms must be complet All candidates will appear at the appropriate the Candidates session on Sunday, March 23 from 11 AM to 12:15 PM in Hall D Members also can suitable with candidates at the Nominating Committee booth Delegates are required to attend all business-related sessions; alternates and other AORN members are encouraged to attend.

In the following election statements, candidates were given independent rein to address professional issues facing nursing in general or perioperative nursing into lead into each other with us, we need to direct the eye at ways to strengthen to what extent AORN connects with members.

I believe in the value of the perioperative promote and will fight for our character and priorities. I believe we must continuously educate others about our worth. We have been too mild in informing the public about the impact we have. We must make our value front-page moderns The perioperative nurse is the common professional who can influence the different interests in the OR. We also have thousands of stories where we have touched patients' lives. We ne to celebrate those successe while helping the public do the same thing.

As your President, I will dedicate my expression to reconnecting with the members, increasing the value of chapters to the members, educating the public about our value, advancing legislative issues, and representing the lacks of perioperative nursing. It will be my honor to labor for you."

PRESIDENT-ELECT (One to be elected)

WILLIAM J DUFFY RN BSN MJ CNOR, is the assistant vice president of perioperative services at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Corp, Ill. He earned his bachelor of science in nursing order from Loyola University, Chicago, and his master of jurisprudence in health law rank from Loyola University School of Law, Chicago.

Duffy has been a perioperative feed for 22 years and a member of AORN for 20 years. He is Treasurer (1999-present) and he chairs the Finance and Audit Committee (1999-present) He also chaired the Board Chapter Visit Task Force (2002) and the Membership Committee (1999) He was a member of the International Advisory (2002) Executive (2000-2001) and Corporate Accountability (1999-2000) Reading (1998) and Membership (1998) Committees, as well as a member of the Sales Representatives in the OR Task Force (1999) Duffy is a state council liaison (1999-present)

Duffy is a specialty assembly liaison (1999-present) and a member of the Leadership (1996-present) Orthopedic (1998-present) and RN First Assistant (2000-present) Specialty Assemblies.

Duffy is a member of AORN of Chicago, where he is vice president (2002-present) He was president (1995-1996) president-elect (1994-1995) and a member of the board of directors (1996-1997; 1993-1994) He chaired the seminar/education/program committee (1998; 1994-1995) He was a member of the hospitality (1999-2002) newsletter (1999-2000) awards (1997) ways and means (1993-1997) and research (1995) committees.

He is a member of the Illinois Council of OR feeds (1993-present), the California State cherishs Association (1998-present), and Sigma Theta Tau (1998-present; 1993) He has attended 10 Congresse in the past 10 years, eight as a delegate and united as an alternate.

Election statement. Colleagues, AORN and perioperative nursing are facing significant challenges. for what reason we address these challenges will affect the what is yet to be of our profession. We have an opportunity--right here, right now--to make a difference for perioperative nursing if we stay constrainted together in a strong Association.
