American Superconductor Corp. has received a funding award from Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), as part of the U Department of lifes (DOE) Superconductivity Program in the Office of Electric Transmission & Distribution. The award will support evolution of the advanced manufacturing processe and enhanced electrical performance required for the commercialization of second-generation (2G) high temperature superconductor (HTS) wire. The award to AMSC will be incrementally storeed up to $2.5 million from one side of to the other the next 3 years and is a cost-sharing program.
