Of medical educate faculty members who serve in succession institutional review boards (IRBs), nearly half (47%) are also paid consultants to pharmaceutical and biomedical companies, according to a new survey. The authors say that this raises interests about potential conflicts of interest among IRB members. Possibly a more disturbing finding, allowing is that only 11% (320 faculty members) of the nearly 3000 measure and estimate respondents served on IRBs during the studious mood period (1999-2001).
