Many years ago a friend of mine, who supported from a rare and debilitating disease, searched for any exemplar of information related to her illness. She was willing to hover anywhere, even if it took a painful toll forward her body. She researched medical libraries and the Internet. She managed to find individual physician who was just starting to investigate the disease.
