During a one-year period, 56 million injuries and thousands of fatalities deductioned from slips and falls in people's place of abodes according to a Sept 4 2003 moderns release from the Home Safety Council. Slips and falls are the leading cause of unintentional hearthstone injuries. In addition, adults older than age 65 are at the highest risk for home-related falls and fall-related injuries or deaths.

The domestic circle Safety Council is urging Americans to invest near time in evaluating the safety of their abodes and taking steps to fix hazards that may lead to falls. These gradations include

* keeping porches, hallways, and stairwells well lit;
