The Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management (AHRMM) has designated Oct 3-9 2004 as National Healthcare Resource and Materials Management Week to recognize the integral part of materials management departments in delivering high-quality patient care, according to a July 28 2004 freshs release from AHRMM. The theme for the week is "Finding Solutions, Raising Standards."

Hospitals are encouraged to participate in National Healthcare Resource and Materials Management Week according to acknowledging materials management and management professionals with special events and staff-wide recognition.
