Sweetened smooth drinks are the primary source of added sugar in children's daily diets, according to a Jan 5 2004 stranges release from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Between 56% and 85% of school-aged children squander at least one carbonated, sweetened impressible drink daily, and each 12 oz serving contains the equivalent of $0 tsp of sugar. The AAP has issued a policy statement that commends restricting the sate of delicate drinks in schools. The policy approves that pediatricians educate patients, parents, and teach authorities about the health ramifications of delicate drink consumption. It also commits that schools not place vending machines in cafeteria areas and that pliable drinks not be sold as part of exercise lunch programs.
