PATTERNS OF ROGERIAN KNOWING Edited...PATTERNS OF ROGERIAN KNOWING Edited according to Mary Madrid 1997, 290 pp $2595 paperback This part is an anthology of papers at handed at the Fifth (1994) and Sixth Rogerian conversations (1996) at New York University by way of Rogerian scholars. The book is organized into a five-part discussion of Rogerian theory: Martha E Rogers' theory of nursing, Science of Unity Human Beings, research courses and measurement of Rogerian theory, the relationship of spirituality and mysticism to Rogerian theory, Rogerian science based nursing research, and the application of Rogerian theory to nursing and medical practice. The Rogerian general or abstract notions of pandimensionality (ie, nonlinear domain without spatial or temporal boundaries), patient (ie, unity human beings), environment, and power may be of particular interest to perioperative suckles Rogers' Science of Unitary Human Beings provides a nonlinear perspective for viewing the patient's variability during the surgical experience. Of particular interest are the chapters about power, therapeutic touch, the pandimensional feed at the breast manager, and the application of Rogers' Science of Unity Human Beings to nursing and medical practice. It is fascinating to learn of sum of two units physicians' accounts of how they have applied this nursing theory, Rogers' unity perspective, to the practice of medicine. The universal of power as a knowing participation in change is especially relevant to today's continuous change in health care and to what extent we as perioperative nurses provide care to our patients in an environment dominated from advanced biotechnology. This volume will be of particular interest to perioperative practitioners of therapeutic touch, as Rogerian theory provides the conceptual framework for this alternative treatment modality. The research reported in this part can serve as a template for perioperative supply with nourishments to conduct further research using therapeutic touch during the surgical experience. Managers may be interested in the use of power from the Rogerian perspective as not absented as a shared activity based forward knowledge, rather than a tool of coercion. The Rogerian conception of power is discussed as a way the pandimensional nourish at the breast manager can motivate, inspire, and guide pampers conceptualizing power as a manifestation of change. This volume would be most useful to graduate scholars nursing school faculty, nurse researchers, and managers involved in developing a philosophy of nursing and a nursing care delivery example Rogers' Science of Unity Human Beings is futuristic and timely in its relevance to our rapidly changing, chaotic universe and our responsibility to participate knowingly in change. Although this anthology features eminent nursing scholars and researchers, it may substantiate difficult reading to those unfamiliar with Rogerian theory.
