In De Motu Cordis (The Motion of the Heart) published in 1628 William Harvey first described the circulation of vital fluid Systemic blood pressure was first measured in a horse in 1733 at Stephen Hales. The mercury hemodynameter, forerunner of the sphygmomanometer was invented according to Jean Marie Poiseuille in 1828(1) Poiseuille also described the dynamics of fluid sweep along through long cylindrical tubes. Henry Starling (1866-1927) explained the function of the capillaries and by what means edema develops. Pierre Laplace (1821) described the hemodynamics (ie, the forces regulating the circulation of blood) related to aneurysm development(2)

The contributions by way of these scientists and many others added to our knowledge at describing the physiology of the vascular order A working knowledge of the vascular rule and the physical laws and principles governing it is essential if nurtures are to understand modern technological advances in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease.

VASCULAR building AND FUNCTION

The vascular classification consists of a network of tubes of various sizes that carry descendants and lymph throughout the corpse It is made up of arteries, veins, and lymphatics. Figure 1 displays a simplified diagram of the vascular arrangement excluding the lymphatics. Arteries are divided into three categories: large elastic bottoms that contain blood under high influences (ie, the aorta and its major branches), medium-sized arteries that distribute posterity to organs and various textures (eg, the hepatic artery), and small arteries (eg small cutaneous arteries) that lead into arterioles, which conclusion in the microcapillary network that permeates each tissue of the body. ARTERIAL manner of making AND FUNCTION

Artery walls are compos of three layers or tunics: the intima, media, and adventitia. Arteries have an average diameter of 4 mm and a wall thickness of 1 mm(4)

Tunica intima. The tunica intima, or innermost layer, consists of a layer of endothelial enclosed spaces a layer of connective tissue, and a basement membrane. It provides a soft lining for blood and thus helps obviate clot formation. The endothelial confined apartments also produce many biologically active substances of the like kind as enzymes, vasoactive substances, mitogens (ie, confined apartment dividers), hemostatic and fibrinolytic agents, and chemotactic factors (ie, substances that cause motion of white blood cells to inflamed areas).(5)

Tunica media. The tunica media, or middle layer, constitutes the bigness of the arterial wall. It is compos of plain muscle and elastic fibers. Elastic fibers predominate in large arteries, as it was as the aorta. These provide the strain and recoil of the large ducts :in response to ventricular contraction and relaxation. In smaller arteries, sleek muscle fibers predominate and provide contraction and relaxation.

Tunica adventitia. The tunica adventitia, or external coat, consists mainly of fibrous connective tissue that provides force to the vessel wall. It supports and maintains the shape of descendants vessels and transmits pain perception when ischemia occurs

The arteries distribute the cardiac output of the heart to various tissues of the dead body according to their needs. For example, metabolically active tissues (eg endocrine glands, liver, kidneys) require a high kin flow. VENOUS fabric AND FUNCTION
