In an effort to better prepare nurs...In an effort to better prepare nursing bookish mans for a career in perioperative nursing, the association of nursing at Brigham Young University, Provo Utah, has revised its curriculum to include brace four-credit elective classes in one as well as the other acute care and community nursing. Faculty members can allocate the four credits between class and clinical time, keeping in mind that all nursing courses at Brigham Young University must have a puissant clinical component. PERIOPERATIVE AND pass CARE ELECTIVE The elective class in acute care is taught with a different emphasis and learning consequence from what is considered traditional.(1) Given the college's mandate that any specialty elective must contribute to a broad view of nursing, the course involves various learning activities that allow scholars to explore the many aspects of perioperative and urgency nursing. In addition, the perioperative nursing course make easy and clinical experience are expanded in the way that students can spend two days in the exigency department. Several students had indicated a desire for more experience in the unforeseen occasion department than what was provided for a limited number of learners by the emergency nursing elective. CURRICULUM universal THREADS The university's nursing curriculum was planned according to universal threads that include inquiry, health promotion and disease prevention, therapeutic nursing intervention, human diversity, stewardship, spirituality, and service. Those same curriculum threads were used to make known the perioperative and emergency care course and make secure its fit in the curriculum.
