Are you worried that the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) mastery may change to eliminate supply with nourishments in the OR? Are assistive personnel being given too greatly autonomy in your workplace? Are you not being reimbursed from third-party payers for your first assisting? The answers to these questions may be establish in new public policy disentanglements affecting perioperative nursing everyday. AORN is presenting "Politics: The Art of the Possible," featuring AORN lobbyist David Hebert, JD and AORN Legislative Program Coordinator Candace Romig, onward Wednesday morning, March 31. The workshop will include an update of the AORN Legislative Grassroots Network. Hebert will focus forward the federal angle and AORN efforts to obtain RN first assistant Medicare reimbursement, and Romig will address the HCFA propos direction change to eliminate prescriptive staffing in surgical services, the regulation of assistive personnel and state legislative activities. This is an opportunity to procure involved in the process and become an active member of the network in preparation for the 1999 legislative session. In addition to this seminar, AORN's restraint Affairs Program will feature three 20-minute legislative self-training module in the Netcafe, as well as a section in the AORN Booth in the exhibit hall at Congres The module are an easy way to learn political advocacy onward the Internet, while earning individual contact hour. The booth will provide attendees with an opportunity to discuss critical federal and state policy issues with National Legislative Committee state coordinators and restraint affairs staff members.
