In today's Western health care theory the emphasis on the Western allopathic example has been shifting. Many Eastern traditions and teachings place emphasis in succession the mind-body connection for healing and well-being. These traditions now have go intoed the Western allopathic medical agriculture and are known as complementary/alternative integrative therapies. Therapeutic touch (TT) is single in kind example of a complementary therapy.(1)

Therapeutic touch is defined as a creative interpretation of several ancient healing practices that deal with universals such as the "laying on" of hands, "energy transfer," and the "inner healer." It is believed to help advance relaxation, reduce pain, accelerate the healing proces and alleviate psychosomatic illness.(2) Patients who endure surgery usually experience stressors of that kind as anxiety and pain; therefore, techniques as it was as TT, if validated by the agency of research, can be used by means of perioperative nurses to help curtail patient stressors. As TT is endorsed by the agency of the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA), the AHNA may be a starting point for perioperative nurtures who are interested in learning the techniques to explore the research studies already published.

Although there have been limited studies forward TT in the surgical arena, this article discusses other studies that have examined the use of TT in reducing stressors as it was as anxiety and pain. zeal field theories are complex and should be explored according to nurses interested in TT likewise they may grasp the universals of human, environmental, and energy-based healing modalities. These theories endorse a connection between and among human and environmental efficacy fields. Understanding energy field theories may be helpful in the surgical arena, where patients are in constant lax state and face many stressors. These stressors can affect their surgical outcomes(3)

Therapeutic touch is believed to help restore balance in the human animation field. Practitioners try to help clients reach a on a level of optimal health through energy-based healing techniques. If research can validate that TT restores balance in surgical patients' spiritedness fields when they are assessed as experiencing anxiety or pain, it can confirm helpful for perioperative nurses in controlling these stressors.(4) If enough significant studies support TT in relieving anxiety and pain, TT may become a mainstream surgical intervention, a great deal like guided imagery and music therapy.(5)

strength FIELDS

Works by means of Martha E. Rogers, Patricia Newman, Richard Gerber, Barbara A. Brennan, and Dora Kunz and Dolores Krieger identify one commonality in theories about might fields.(6) Human energy fields are viewed as integral with the environmental fields and are characterized by means of identifiable patterns, manifesting in human attributes.(7) Roger defines the intensity field as the fundamental unit of the living and the nonliving.(8) The word field is a unifying general or abstract notion Energy is thought to be the dynamic nature of the field, which is in continuous motion and is infinite. The human capacity of work field is thought to be irreducible, indivisible, multidimensional and identified by dint of patterns and manifesting characteristics that are specific to the whole, which cannot be predicted from knowledge of the parts. The environmental field also is irreducible, indivisible, multidimensional, and identified by means of patterns and is integral to the human field.

A pattern is a distinguishing characteristic of an power field perceived as a single wave. Roger believes characteristics of vigor fields include openness, mutual proces dynamic unity, and the capacity to establish patterns that are fundamental to the human-environmental proces It is specified by the agency of principles of integrality, resonancy, and helicy. Integrality identifies the human-environmental fields as being in a continuous mutual proces Resonancy involves continuous change from lower to higher oftenness wave patterns in human and environmental fields. Helicy is continuous, innovative, and unpredictable, increasing diversity of human and environmental field patterns.(9)

Brennan describes the human mechanical value field as having seven layers divided into three planes.(10) Each layer is interpenetrating, with each successive layer having a higher vibration. Brennan also describes vertical vis viva flow in the human activity field and perceives seven vortices of this power flow that correlate with the seven chakras described in Indian philosophy. Brennan attributes disease and distortion of perceptions and feeling to imbalances or blockages of vigor flow.

Kunz and Krieger identified four aspects of the human might field:

* the vital or etheric field, closely related to the physical body;

* the emotional field of feelings;

* the mental field of universals and thinking; and

* the intuition field, which they describe in seasons of order, creativity, and compassion.(11)

All these theories endorse a connection between and among human and environmental pluck fields. Each field consists of several interrelated layers that are in constant motion. It is this mechanical value that the TT practitioner taps into when implementing an intervention.
