ENCYCLOPEDIA OF NURSING RESEARCH fr...
ENCYCLOPEDIA OF NURSING RESEARCH from Joyce J. Fitzpatrick 1998, 701 pp $100 hardcover This main division is a compilation of various research topics conveniently brought together in a single work The target audience ranges from the scholar nurse to the nurse pursuing a graduate order The purpose of this volume is to provide information regarding research issues or related health issues. What I institute to be particularly helpful is the acronym section. In the business of health care, acronyms are used quite oftentimes and it can be difficult to retain up with them. There also is a topic minute list so readers can, at a glance, behold what topics are included in the part The main body is put up with the topic entries in alphabetical order for easy access. A respect section, subject index, and contributors index are included for additional information and increased readers' ease of finding topics. The topic entries provide definition, background and history, sweeps methods of research, and the topic's significance to nursing. The volume is fairly easy to read, with each minute averaging approximately one full page. The book's hardy point is that it not barely serves as a reference guide with useful information for a research paper, if it were not that it also serves as an prime resource to begin one's confess research project. Readers can expand forward the research topics or create fresh topics from the information provided in sections titled "Future directions," which are included in a of the topic entries. An added bonus of this work is the cross-referencing topic list that is at the close of each topic entry. These cross-referencing topics provide either more generalized or more specific information upon the initial topic. Overall, the part provides general information that is useful in starting a research project--either for information gathering or for idea enhancing. As with any intimation material, and because research is an ongoing proces the information in this volume can become outdated, and information may not have been available at the time of printing. As the editor of this part states in the preface, the publishing company already has begun putting together a next to the first edition.
