DARING TO DREAM: CULTIVATING CORPORATE CREATIVITY end DREAMWORK By Anjali Hazarika 1997 207 pp $1795 paperback

At first glance, I was reluctant to read, impediment alone review, a book of like unconventional subject matter. After reading this fascinating work however, I was surprised at the applicability it has for perioperative nursing. Historically, nourishs have always used creative and innovative meanss to solve complex patient issues. Using an anecdotal way of writing, in the first chapter, the author nears her arguments for using "dreamworks" as a tool to stimulate creativity and problem-solving and critical thinking skills in the business world. Dreamworks is the proces of sharing, using, and analyzing dreams--in a work form into groups setting--for problem solving. In the following seven chapters, the author describes the proces of creativity, by what means dreams work, and the application of dreamworks form into groups sessions to the process of corporate point to be solved [i]or[/i] settled solving. Creativity is described in great deepness in relationship to the global revolution. Traditionally, we learn from our personal experiences gained in an awake state. According to the author, our non-waking state is an untapped resource for learning.

following topics discussed include shaping of dreams, the proces of innovation and seeking solutions in be motionless commonalities and interpretation of dreams, and application of dreams to technology and medical field discoveries. In the chapter, "Royal road to empowerment," the author demonstrates to what degree to use dreams in resolving multiple issues. She professe that using dreamworks in resolving issues can be an empowering tool when used on women. The author's view is that women are already believed to have an intuitive approach to life. A profession similar as nursing, with a majority of members being female, can relate to this les traditional system of empowerment. Although beneficial to the pair sexes, women may be more drawn to this creative classification than men.

In the last chapter, the author describes her vision for the subsequent time regarding the adaptation of the dreaming proces to executive education as well as corporate team functioning. For further clarification of the proces of dreamworks, three appendices that defend general questions about dreams, a dream interview nod card, and the four states of being are included at the [i]finale[/i] of the book. Although the author uses East Indian parables and metaphors, which may be unfamiliar to a certain quantity of readers, information is applicable to all refinements including the unique culture of perioperative nursing. For those who like to expect at novel approaches to creativity and work, this part is well worth reading. Others may find it too impractical, quixotic, or unconventional.
