The National Black Women's Health ...
The National Black Women's Health draw is calling for a change in American research priorities to address the fact that motherhood is four times more dangerous for black women than for white women in America, according to a pres release from the organization. The call for change is based forward recent findings from the Center for Disease command and Prevention that indicate the rate of pregnancy-related deaths for black women in the United States is 196 by 100,000 live births--nearly four times higher than the rate of 53 by 100,000 for white women. Moreover, in a state-by-state breakdown, the worst state for black women (ie, fresh York, at 28.7 deaths by means of 100,000 live births) was 10 times worse than the best state for white women (ie, Massachusetts, at 27 deaths by means of 100,000 live births). The overall rate of maternal deaths (ie, 77 by 100,000 live births) has not changed a great deal in the past decade, and the gap between black and white women has remained more or les constant. Serious nonfatal complications related to childbirth also afflict black women at a rate a great deal of higher than white women. According to the release, the National Black Women's Health Project--the simply private nonprofit organization dedicated solely to improving the health and well-being of American black women--will spearhead an effort to render the number of pregnancy-related deaths and complications among black women A safe motherhood initiative called "Mothers too early, too long" will solicit to reframe women's health research agendas to extremity racial disparities and prevent the needles deaths of all women in childbirth. with what intent Is Motherhood So Unsafe for Women of Color?.
