University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMC) physicians may have discovered a quicker and more cost-effective means to treat lung cancer, according to an Oct 20 1999 UMC pres release.

the same physician pioneered the radiofrequency of the lung tumor ablation surgical course that has been performed simply at UMC and in China. University of Mississippi physicians traveled to China to teach Chinese physicians to what extent to perform the procedure.

A tiny incision is made in the patient's skin where physicians insert a probe to subvert the tumor(s). Procedures in Mississippi were performed using a freezing probe, if it be not that a hot (ie, radiofrequency/ laser) probe was used in China. The overseas transactions also targeted primary tumors to attempt to specific the cancer. Researchers say if the radiofrequency ablation operations in China prove successful, they could be adopted worldwide.
