AORN has hired brace new directors: Katherine A. Halverson-Carpenter, RN MBA, CNOR, Director of Professional Services; and Joan M Blick, Director of the AORN Foundation. Halverson-Carpenter advances to AORN from the Children's Hospital, Denver where she serv as the nursing program director, surgical services. In her fresh position at AORN, Halverson-Carpenter heads three departments, including the Center for Nursing Practice, the Center for Perioperative Education, and the Center for Library Services and Archives. The Center for Nursing Practice provides perioperative information to AORN members and others by means of answering practice-oriented questions and creating and reviewing practice guidelines, standards, and commended practices. The Center for Perioperative Education is the driving force behind the creation and distribution of education offerings, distance education programs, specialty discourses and AORN Congress. The Center for Library Services and Archives is dedicated to meeting the research and information extremitys of AORN members, nurses, other health care providers, and business and industry representatives. Halverson-Carpenter--who has been a perioperative RN for more than 20 years--earned her bachelor of science stage in nursing from Metropolitan State literary institution [i]or[/i] seminary of learning Denver, and her master of business administration quality from the University of Phoenix, Denver As Director of the AORN Foundation, Blick will supervise the Foundation's fund-raising programs, as well as manage the administration of grants for scholarships, education, and research. The AORN Foundation is a charitable and education foundation established to elevate quality patient care by providing scholarships, leadership training, education, and research grants. Blick brings extensive professional fund-raising experience to this position, as her career spans 20 years of orchestrating academic and health care-related supply raising, in addition to consulting. mostly recently, Blick was director of funding progressive growth La Leche League International, Chicago.
