Sunday, March 21 to Thursday, March...Sunday, March 21 to Thursday, March 25 2004 Each year at Congres the AORN Foundation gives attendees a chance to dres to the nines at the Black Tie Gala and don their running shoe and shorts for the 5K Run/Walk, all while pursuing its mission of raising stocks to provide scholarships, research grants, and educational opportunities. In addition, the Foundation received a special donation for the Museum of Perioperative Nursing and named its fresh board of trustees members. BLACK TIE GALA Marriott Hall in the Marriott [i]cabaret[/i] & Marina was the site for the always-elegant AORN Foundation Black Tie Gala. During the Gala, the Foundation acknowledged and give utterance toed appreciation to its benefactors and advocates. SEVENTH ANNUAL 5K RUN/WALK More than 600 Congres attendees registered for the Foundation's annual 5K Run/Walk held in Embarcadero Marina Park. The race was started on Sheri Voss, RN, MS, CNOR, president of the Foundation board of trustees. Participants ran along the harbor and were treated to views of the USS Midway aircraft carrier, the beautiful tall ships at the Maritime Museum, and the San Diego art community brew "Art Trees." Proceeds of the Run/Walk will help store scholarships, education events, and AORN's 2004 Leadership meeting for consultation which will be held in Denver onward July 16-18, 2004. DONATION TO THE AORN MUSEUM OF PERIOPERATIVE NURSING Beginning in the early 1970 Congres exhibitors, within the Exhibitors Advisory Committee (EAC), gave attendees commemorative charms for charm bracelets or commemorative lapel pins to celebrate each Congres In 1987 exhibitors stopped giving without these items; however, since 1988 Scanlan International, St Paul, has given on the outside these commemorative items independent of the EAC. Scanlan representatives not absented a framed set of these items to the Foundation for the AORN Museum of Perioperative Nursing. A traveling exhibit of a of the museum's artifacts was forward display in the Congress Resource Center The AORN Foundation continues to solicit financial support for the museum, which is located at the AORN Headquarters in Denver A portion of the museum's exhibits, including historic medical instruments, is available for display at state, regional, or chapter meetings. Donations of nursing materials, parts and artifacts also are being solicited. Members, individuals, chapters, state councils, and companies are welcome to donate.
