AORN has designated Wednesday, June 23 2004 as National "Time not at home Day. This event is being held to focus attention onward the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) Universal Protocol for Preventing improper Site, Wrong Procedure, Wrong someone Surgery and the steps being taken from AORN and other health care organizations to elevate correct site surgery. AORN, in partnership with JCAHO and other national organizations, will manners media outreach with print and broadcast media in of the present day York and several other major regional markets. Goals for National "Time Out" day include * demonstrating to the general public that members of the surgical team and the organizations that take the part of them are serious about patient safety and are collaborating in succession efforts to reduce errors, * generating broader awareness about the Universal Protocol among the health care community and surgical patients, * generating additional support and greater stress among the health care community for implementation of the Universal Protocol, and * amplifying the message to patients that they should take greater responsibility for their have health care.
