Vivian C Watson, RN CNOR, AORN's Ombudsman, existinged the Closing General Session, "The Inspired Heart of Nurses" President Betty J Shultz RN CNOR, asked Watson to ready this particular session, saying "Everybody believes in you and your heart."

After Watson's presentation, President Shultz took the stage and thanked the members of the 2003-2004 Board of Directors. She explained that she had given each Board member a pin in the shape of a penguin, because although alone the penguin is a bungling flightless bird that would not survive lengthy against its enemies, penguins work together as a team, marching shoulder to shoulder, relying in succession each other for strength and survival. She then introduced a videotaped presentation of the Congres highlights for the week.

The bowl also is engraved with a bamboo plant, symbolizing "strength tenacity, endurance, and compromise," which Cooper said were hallmarks of President Shultz's leadership.
