The American Journal of Nursing has achieved single in kind century of continuous publication, joining the ranks of JAMA and the of recent origin England Journal of Medicine. The American Journal of Nursing is the oldest and largest nursing publication in the world and individual of the first US periodicals to be managed and edited by the agency of women, according to an October 2000 pres release. The journal, which has approximately 350000 subscribers, will celebrate the occasion with a 100th anniversary commemorative issue, reprints of the premier issue, and a year-long series of special incidents and award ceremonies. Highlights of the anniversary issue include a time line of nursing accomplishments from 1900 to 2000 a pictorial of health-related inventions created from nurses, and profiles of contemporary public health activists.
