Heart disease and rap are the first and fifth leading causes of death among Native Americans and Alaskan Natives, according to a June 2 2000 stranges release from the Centers for Disease rule and Prevention (CDC). Geographic variation was observ more commonly in the male population than the female population. In the Midwest, 261% of men had pair or more risk factors compared to 138% in the Northeast. This variation may meditate differences in cultural background, historical circumstances, and socioeconomic conditions.
