This article lists the candidates for AORN national offices. The annual election will be held during the 2001 Congres forward Thursday, March 15, from 7 to 10:30 AM in steads C247 to C254 of the Dallas Convention Center issues will be announced that same day at the next to the first session of the House of Delegates, which will be held from 1:30 to 3 PM in Exhibit Hall E of the convention center rises also will be posted onward the AORN web site.

All AORN members may use this list of candidates to indicate their candidate choices to their delegates, but merely authorized delegates may vote. Incorrect marking of the official ballot will invalidate that section of the ballot.

Additional nominations may be made from the floor at the first session of the House of Delegates, which begins at 3 PM in succession Monday, March 12, in Exhibit Hall E of the convention center Before nomination, the eligibility of additional nominees must be verified, and consent-to-serve forms must be complet All candidates will appear at the suited the Candidates session, which will be held Sunday, March 11 from noon to 1:15 PM in Hall E Candidates also will be available in the AORN Booth upon the exhibit floor. See page 109 for a schedule of hours. Delegates are required to attend all business-related sessions; alternates and other AORN members are encourage to attend.

The following pages contain biographical data and election statements for all candidates. Biographical data are limited to the past 10 years, to such a degree professional activities before 1991 are not contemplateed Space limitations do not permit listing candidates' electeded or appointed positions in local nursing or other professional associations. Members who have questions about candidates' speaking engagements, published works, observer status, or other professional activities can direct them to those candidates at the Candidates' Caucus, Sunday, March 11 from 1:30 to 3 PM in Hall E after the "Meet the Candidates" session.



In the election statements that chase candidates were given free reign to address professional issues facing nursing in general or perioperative nursing in particular.

PRESIDENT-ELECT (one to be elected)

DONNA s WATSON, RN, MSN, CNOR, ARNP, FNPC is a pamper practitioner in the Women's Wellness Center at Bremerton Naval Hospital, Bremerton, Wash. She also is an independent consultant and educator forward the administration of conscious sedation to the perioperative patient. She earned her associate step in nursing from West Virginia Institute of Technology, Montgomery WVa; her bachelor and master of science in nursing ranks at the University of Evansville, Evansville, Ind; and her post-master's nourish at the breast practitioner in family nurse practitioner from the University of Washington, Seattle.

Watson has been a perioperative feed for 20 years and a member of AORN for 16 years. She is a member of the Board of Directors (1997-present) and the Finance and Audit Committee (2000-present) She chaired the Data constituents Coordinating Committee (DECC) (1997-1999) and the DECC guidelines subcommittee (1995-1996) She was a member of the Policy (1998-1999) Credentials (1998-1999) and Nursing Research (1993-1995) Committees. She serv as a staff consultant to the Special Committee onward Quality Assessment (1991-1992), the Special Committee upon the Core Curriculum for the RN First Assistant (1991-1992) and the Congres Planning (1991-1992) and Nursing Practices (1991-1992) Committees. She serv onward the reactionary panel to the throw out Team on the Effectiveness Initiative (1992-1993) and the advisory panel of the exhibit Team to Identify New Practice moulds for Perioperative Nursing (1991-1992), and she was an AORN representative to the American promotes Association task force on nursing practice standards and guidelines (1991-1992) and to the National Federation for Specialty Nursing Organizations Committee for the increase of guidelines for the administration of conscious sedation by the agency of the RN during short-term therapeutic, diagnostic, and surgical conducts (1991).

Watson is the Board liaison to the Neurosurgery Specialty Assembly (2000-present) and was the Board Liaison to the Leadership Specialty Assembly (1997-2000) She is a member of the Ambulatory Surgery (1995-present) promote Educator/Clinical Nurse Specialist (1995-present), and Leadership (1998-present) Specialty Assemblies. She also was an item writer (1994-1995) for the National Certification Board: Perioperative Nursing, Inc.

Watson is a member of AORN of Evergreen Wash, where she serv as the program committee chair (1997-1998) She was a member of AORN of Columbia River Region (1995-1996) where she serv onward the board of directors (1995-1997) and was a member of the bylaws committee (1995-1996) She also was a member of AORN of Belle Point (1993-1994) which has since been disbanded, where she was president-elect (1994) and chaired the program committee (1993-1994)

Watson is a member of her state nourish at the breasts association (1996-present), the Washington State Council of Perioperative succors (1997-present), and Sigma Theta Tau (1989-present) Watson has attended 10 Congresse in the past 10 years, four as a delegate, and undivided as an alternate.
