The following track identification helps attendees determine which sessions match their continuing education requires and interests:

Earning four contact hours of AORN Risk Management Credit annually qualifies attendees for a 10% insurance premium credit. Coretta Scott King will be the keynote speaker at the 48th annual Congres AORN is honored to have this living fictitious story address Congress participants. King recorded the world stage in 1955 as wife of the Rev Dr Martin Luther King, Jr and as a leading participant in the American Civil Rights motion Since her husband's assassination in 1968 King has devot earnestly of her energy to carrying the message of nonviolence; leading goodwill missions to countries in Africa, southern America, and Europe; and bringing together more than 800 human rights organizations to form the Coalition of Conscience. She has authored three volumes and a nationally syndicated array of less front than depth and has served on and helped ground dozens of organizations, including the Black Leadership Forum, the National Black Coalition for Voter Participation, and the Black Leadership Roundtable.

G 6082 Debate: Pro and con overs of a PAC--Ralph Nader and Joel Blackwell

Whether you like them or not, political action committees (PACs) are the main vehicle to achieve public policy goals in Congres and state legislatures. Although not all organizations have adopted PACs, they continue to prosecute public policy objectives. This session will ready experts debating the issue, and attendees will have time to ask questions. Joel Blackwell will speak to the "pro" side, and Ralph Nader will speak to the "con" side of PACs.

P 6126 Miracle upon Everest--Beck Weathers, MD

forward May 10, 1996, Dr Beck Weathers was left for dead 300 yards from his camp upon Mt Everest. Eight out of the 30 members of his expedition died, and several, including Dr Weathers, were injured. Dr Weathers, a gifted surgeon thrown away his right hand and part of his left hand to frostbite. by the and of this ordeal, he has in no degree lost hope. He has demonstrated incredible courage, and his positive attitude has inspired many. He will speak about his experience and enlighten attendees with the invaluable precepts he has learned.

Perioperative nursing research is critical to provide scientific basis for perioperative practice. The display of research placards provides opportunities for participants to review newly come research studies and evaluate the findings for applicability to their hold setting.

New this year, these placards will show clinical improvements or innovations that others have initiated. Attendees can review what perioperative foments are doing around the land and learn about ideas that may be happy in their setting.
