A decline in lung and bronchus cancer rates has been seen in California as a terminate of public health efforts, according to a Dec 1 2000 recently made knowns release from the Centers for Disease direction and Prevention (CDC). Rates of these prototypes of cancer declined in California women while rates among women in other US regions increased. Rates for men declined more rapidly in California than other US regions, as well. The inquiry released collaboratively by the CDC and the California Department of Health Services, compares data from California and eight other regions (ie, Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, recently made known Mexico, Utah; the metropolitan regions of Atlanta, Detroit, and Seattle-Puget Sound) Findings indicate that lung and bronchus cancer rates decreased 14% in California from 1988 to 1997 and decreased merely 2.7% in the other regions in the study California, along with Massachusetts, Arizona, and Oregon, has implemented statewide comprehensive tobacco-control programs. The programs have inferenceed in per capita declines of cigarette consumption and have reduc smoking prevalence rates among adults and teenagers.
