AORN newly was contacted as a credible source of information for a national television exhibit to AORN Perioperative Nursing Specialist, Ramona L blue perch RN, MSN, completed an on-camera interview with Dateline NBC at AORN Headquarters. The show's husbandmans are investigating medication safety and its impact forward patients. Using last year's Institute of Medicine report To wander is Human as a springboard, the exhibit focuses on a 1995 incident in which a seven-year-old lad undergoing routine, elective ear surgery received the unfit medication during surgery and died. After reviewing a January 2001 "Clinical Issues" row provided by AORN, the Dateline NBC agriculturist spoke with Conner, author of the row via telephone. A few weeks later, the farmer asked to arrange an on-camera interview. In April, the agriculturist and camera crew members toured AORN Headquarters and gooded an interview site, and ship's company members set up lights and vigorous equipment. After the interview, company members filmed Conner in various locations from beginning to end AORN Headquarters. Although it has not been determined when the part will air or whether any of the interview will be used in the final footage, it was an of the best opportunity for AORN to gain exposing as a credible source of surgical information.
