Several research placards were displayed at the 2001 Congres providing attendees an opportunity to earn contact hours and giving broadside presenters a chance to win cash awards. Eighteen placards were displayed, and the authors of four of the placards were presented awards of merit from the AORN Nursing Research Committee. Awards were underwritten by way of AORN. Much of the research upon the linkages between domestic/ intimate partner violence and women's health status have focused forward the high rates of abuse during pregnancy or the severity of abuse experienced at women seeking care in hospital unforeseen occasion departments. Current research suggests that battered women utilize health care services in general at to a great degree higher rates than women who have not experienced abuse. In addition to physical injury, battered women experience a range of physical and mental health disorders. not many studies have examined the association between women's history of victimization and surgical intervention. The intent of this study was to examine the association between women's history of victimization and the number and sign of surgeries they experience. Intake and record data onward 112 women from a primary care practice were used to examine the relationship between victimization and the likelihood that women would endure surgery.
