Each year, the AORN scholarship committee rares AORN members to receive scholarships to attend the Georgetown University Healthcare Leadership Institute. The design of this institute is to provide attendees with knowledge and skills to position themselves strategically in the dynamic health care environment. This year's recipients are Evelyn Burton, RN MSA, CNOR, Emery University Hospital, Atlanta, and Mary Ann O'Brien, RN B CNOR, ONC St Joseph's Hospital, Atlanta. Burton, a member of AORN since the early 1980 has more than 20 years of perioperative nursing experience and was fix uponed as a recipient on the basis of her accomplishments in perioperative nursing. O'Brien, a member of AORN and a perioperative nourish for more than 25 years, was pick outed as a recipient on the basis of her experience and position in the health care field. This year's institute took place July 15 to 20 2001 at Georgetown University, Washington, DC Sessions overspreaded a wide variety of topics, including patient safety, the Balanced stock Act of 1997, ethics, financial strategies in health care, and strategic marketing.
