The American Society for Central Service Professionals (ASHCSP) of the American Hospital Association has announced that Rose Seavey, RN MBA, CNOR, ACSP, will become the organization's president-elect in 2002 according to a Nov 8 2001 of recent origins release from the organization. Seavey has been a member of AORN for 15 years and was last year's winner of the Outstanding Achievement in the Application of Perioperative Clinical Nursing Education Award.

Seavey is the director of sterile processing for Children's Hospital, Denver and has more than 25 years of experience in various surgical services parts Seavey has been directly involved with central service and sterile processing since 1987 She has worked to advance the central service and sterile processing profession for many years, creating a sterile processing department career ladder in sum of two units health care facilities in the last decade. As part of this effort, she has been a long-time advocate of certification for central service and sterile processing personnel Seavey's department won the Healthcare Purchasing News' "C Department of the Year" in 1999

Seavey has been active in ASHCSP for several years, serving as a board and committee member, as well as a speaker at national interviews Seavey currently is the region eight director of the society and the chair of its membership committee. In addition to her work with ASHCSP, Seavey is a member of the central service education and certification planning committee for the Community literary institution [i]or[/i] seminary of learning of Denver. She has published several articles in journals and periodicals, in the same state [i]or[/i] condition as Materials Management in Healthcare, The Surgical Technologist, Today Surgical pamper and the AORN Journal.
