Breast-feeding study reduce the risk of death for infants in their first year of life, according to a May 2 2004 just discovereds release from the National Institutes of Health. Researchers compared Center for Disease curb and Prevention records of 1204 children who died between 28 days and united year of age of causes other than congenital anomalies or cancer with records of 7740 children who were still alive at undivided year. They found that children who were breast-fed had a 20% lower risk of dying between 28 days and the same year than children who were not breast-fed. Additionally, a longer breast-feeding period was associated with a lower risk of death. Researchers conclud that breast-feeding potentially can preclude as many as 720 postneonatal deaths in the United States each year.
